LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A crash involving JCPS bus #0157 has sent nine people to the hospital.
It happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Brownsboro Road and Birchwood. That's where the bus and collided with a Mazda Protege. The car appeared to have sustained heavy damage from the crash.
Seven students from the bus were taken to Kosair Children's Hospital and two people from the car were taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.
Bus #0157 was a depot bus, meaning it was not associated with a single school, and the children on board were being taken to several elementary schools: Atkinson, King and Roosevelt-Perry.
We're told the man and woman in the car suffered the most serious injuries. The man had fractures in his lower body and the woman was complaining of head and neck pain.
While crews cleared the scene, JCPS Bus #0229 was caught in the backup and couldn't continue on to school. No word on where it was headed.
Another school bus -- JCPS Bus #1218 headed to Roosevelt-Perry Elementary -- was involved in a minor traffic accident at 20th and Broadway around 8:30 a.m. when a truck clipped the bus's side view mirror. There were 21 students on board, but no one was injured. The bus continued on to school.
