Suspect surrenders after fatal hit and run in southern Indiana

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal hit and run near Leesville, Indiana.

Noah Brown, 14, and his passenger, Kassie Yoskovich, 16, were traveling on a moped down George Johnson Road in Guthrie Township on Aug. 16 when they were struck by an oncoming car.

Both were students at Medora High School.

Police say they were coming around a tight turn on a moped when a truck coming the opposite direction hit them and left the scene. They confiscated the truck believed to be involved by the next day.

Yoskovich, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene after the crash. Brown, who was wearing a helmet, was treated at Riley Hospital for leg injuries.

Police say 20-year-old Cody Stivers turned himself in Aug. 20. He was booked into Lawrence County Jail. His is charged with two counts of failure to stop, resulting in injury or death.

He was released after posting $2,005 bond.

Yoskovich was a cheerleader and volleyball player at Medora High School.
