Metro councilman to fund overtime after Hikes Point shooting

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A shooting death this week in Hikes Point has prompted a Metro Councilman to fund overtime for additional patrols.

Wednesday, 21-year-old Rontrel Leak was shot at the Orchard Manor Townhomes near Hikes Lane and Breckenridge Lane. Leak later died at University Hospital. No suspects have been arrested.

Councilman Brent Ackerson (D-26) will fund the overtime for the sixth division of Louisville Metro Police pending an arrest in the case.

Ackerson says he will use Neighborhood Development Funds to pay for the overtime, but urges anyone with information in Leak's death to call the Metro Police tipline at 574-LMPD.
