"Very small" ammonia leak injures one at Ind. Tyson plant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One worker suffered minor injuries after a "very minor" ammonia leak at Tyson Foods poultry plant in Corydon, Ind., late Monday.

Harrison Co. Emergency Management director Greg Reas told WDRB News the "very small" leak forced evacuation of the plant; however, he could not tell exactly how much of the chemical had leaked.

Workers evacuated the plant and were expected to return to work after 11:35 p.m. Monday. Reas said the leak was contained quickly and cleanup was underway.

No one answered calls to the plant number about midnight.

First responders from Harrison Twp. Fire Dept., Corydon police, Harrison Co. Emergency Management and the county health department were among those who answered the call for help and investigation, Reas said.
