LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- With people singing as they walk, the University of Louisville on Wednesday commemorated the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.
Mayor Greg Fischer, along with U of L President James Ramsey, led dozens of students, faculty, and community members from the Swain Student Activities Center to the Quad.
Participants such as Albert Stiener said there were good reasons to march here and in Washington, D.C.: "If you look at your states now, your state governments, they are changing everything, the unions have been annihilated. If we don't start walking now and working, we are all going to suffer."
Festivities also included a panel discussion, music, and a keynote address from the President of the Louisville Chapter of the NAACP.
