LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The University of Kentucky is spending millions of dollars to make its campus a little safer.
UK plans to install 2,000 security cameras and provide ID cards that let students enter buildings after hours. The new security features will cost almost $5 million.
Campus leaders say the new system will make it easier for them to monitor crime and keep everyone protected in an emergency.
Kentucky ACLU spokeswoman Amber Duke says information that could be misused will be gathered, and it's important to know how long the information will be kept.
