LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---A new phone app, is changing the way you get important information from sheriff's departments.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office is the first Kentuckiana agency on board.
It's no secret that technology is constantly changing.
People are no longer just turning to the computer for information. It's also nearby, on your phone and Ipad.
The list of apps you can add goes on and on.
Now, there's one in particular that authorities in Clark County are turning to.
"It's just slowly rolling out," says Clark County Sheriff Danny Rodden.
Sheriff Danny Rodden says an app called "MobilePatrol" is changing the way people can get information in Clark County.
"With everybody wanting access to information all the time, in real time, this is something that's out there for them," says Sheriff Rodden.
They are one of eight sheriff's departments in the state of Indiana placing information on the app, and the first in Kentuckiana.
"It's nice for our police officers. They have access on their phones," says Sheriff Rodden.
Whether you are searching for an inmate, Amber Alerts, or even the ‘Most Wanted' people in the county, it's now at your fingertips by phone.
A list of sex offenders and their photos are also on the app.
You can also report crime tips, or even send an email to the Sheriff himself.
Sheriff Rodden thinks with technology constantly on the move, other counties will soon jump on board.
"I think eventually it will become a very productive tool for law enforcement," says Sheriff Danny Rodden.
The Sheriff says, so far, they haven't decided if mug shots will be added to this app.
The app is free, and the Sheriff says he'd like to hear your feedback about it.
