On Saturday, September 7, more than 30 sailboats will race the Ohio River to compete for a coveted trophy in the 14th annual Fleur de Lis Regatta.
The event happens from Noon to 4pm at the harbor next to the Great Lawn.
Enjoy live bands, arts and crafts, a drumming circle and food from local food trucks while watching the race from Waterfront Park in downtown Louisville.
Sailing for A Cure Foundation hopes to raise more than $40,000 for Gilda's Club through the Fleur de Lis Regatta event, which will include a silent auction, online donations, celebrations and races over the September 6th through the 8th weekend.
In addition, 30 Gilda's Club members, ages 5 to 74, whose lives have been touched by cancer, were selected as honorary first mates of the competing teams, and had an opportunity to meet team captains and learn about their sailing vessels while enjoying a recent cruise on the Ohio River at an open sail and cookout to kick off the upcoming Regatta event.
The September 7th event at Waterfront Park is free and open to the public.
