LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The 8-year-old girl who is the subject of an Amber Alert is supposed to be in her father's custody -- that was the judge's ruling during a court appearance on Aug. 29, when custody was granted to Sophia Snow's father, Aaron Snow.
Sophia's mother, Jennifer Ansari, was supposed to hand Sophia over her father by Sept. 3, but she did not. Ansari's parents say that's because their daughter believes believe Aaron Snow isn't fit to be a father. A warrant was issued for Jennifer Ansari around lunchtime Wednesday, along with charges of interfering with custody.
During an interview with WDRB's Rachel Collier early Wednesday, Ansari's parents told us they believe Jennifer will turn herself in today. Her father, Raymond Wagner, said, "My daughter is absolutely no threat to this child. My daughter takes very good care of this child. My daughter has had custody for eight and a half years of this child."
Snow's attorney, Rodney Sarcovics, told us by phone that Aaron Snow has never had any criminal charges filed against him. He says there have been "accusations" about his client, but nothing has ever been substantiated. Sarcovics says his client is concerned for the safety of his daughter. Snow lives in Florida, but is currently in Indiana because of the custody battle.
Authorities say Jennifer Ansari was last seen driving a 2012 burgundy Honda Civic 4-door passenger car with Indiana license plate number 779NZJ. They say she may be staying with relatives in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sophia is eight years old, 3'10″ and weighs about 50 pounds with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes. Officials say she was last seen at 12 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 in Fishers.
At this time no criminal charges have been filed against Jennifer Ansari.
