Grimes calls for raising minimum wage to $10.10

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes wants to raise the minimum wage in Kentucky to $10.10 an hour.  She says it's a way to help the middle class.

The candidate for U.S. Senate says raising the minimum wage from $7.25 would affect nearly 30 percent of working Kentuckians.

She is also getting fundraising help from the CEO of DreamWorks Animation, who is promoting a series of fundraising receptions for Grimes in Los Angeles later this month.

Grimes wants to replace Mitch McConnell after next year's election.  McConnell also faces Louisville businessman Matt Bevin in the Republican primary.
