Conservative group's TV ad pressures McConnell on health care

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A conservative group is turning to the airwaves to get Mitch McConnell's attention on health care.

The Senate Conservatives Fund is spending $340,000 on a TV ad to pressure the Senate Republican leader to defund federal health care reforms before they kick in October 1st.

The group's executive director says McConnell is the key to stopping the Affordable Care Act, often known as Obamacare.

It already been running a radio spot calling on McConnell to oppose any money for the health care law even if it means triggering a government shutdown.  McConnell has said it's impossible simply to carve the Obamacare money out of the budget.

The ad starts airing Friday.
