SWAT standoff begins with gunshots, ends with man in custody

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Screams and gunshots kicked off a SWAT standoff in New Albany Friday morning.  It came to an end at a home on Greenaway Place with everyone safe.

Police called in the SWAT team when no one would answer the door at the home.  WDRB's cameras were there when a woman and child walked out and a man was taken away in handcuffs.

Major Keith Whitlow with the New Albany Police Dept. told WDRB News, "Calling out the SWAT team in this situation was an effort on our part not only to protect the people inside the house, but also the people in the neighborhood. It gives us a better tactical approach to a situation like this."

Police say no charges have been filed and they are still trying to determine what happened.
