September is National Preparedness Month and WDRB's Chris Sutter invited the Red Cross into his home to find out what he needs to know in case of a disaster.
The Red Cross now has an app that will sound the alarm if there is a weather or disaster warning. You can even let your family know via text, facebook or twitter if you are safe.
Angela Robertson with the American Red Cross says that you should have a NOAA radio with fresh batteries and your fire detectors should be up to date. She says the Red Cross is called out to fire more often than any other disaster. Robertson says every room should have two exits in case of a fire.
You can find all this information and much more, including where to download the app, at the Red Cross website.
