Nine LMPD Officers are promoted

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Nine LMPD police officers have moved up the ranks and are taking on new leadership positions.

Six LMPD members were promoted to sergeant at a ceremony on September 6. Two were also promoted to lieutenant. One person achieved the rank of major.

Mayor Greg Fischer called LMPD officers "role models" around the city.

"We should feel good as a city that we've got a tremendous group of professionals as part of LMPD and one of the things I love about them is they try to get better every day as well," said Fischer.

Friends and family of the officers also gathered for the ceremony, which took place in the mayor's gallery at Metro Hall.
