INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The Indiana Supreme Court is giving an Indianapolis judge until noon Wednesday to challenge an emergency petition to remove her from the bench.
The court issued the order Friday.
Chief Justice Brent E. Dickson says the court set the deadline because disciplinary rules do not specifically establish a deadline for responses to proposed suspensions.
The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications filed a complaint against Brown last month alleging 45 counts of misconduct and requesting her immediate suspension with pay until the outcome of the case.
The commission alleges Brown's actions delayed the jail release of at least nine defendants.
Marion Superior Court issued a statement saying it would not comment during the proceedings.
The Associated Press was unable to reach Brown by phone for comment Sunday.
