Local Syrian-Americans protest for military attack

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Days before Congress weighs in on military action in Syria, a local group of Syrian-Americans is supporting a strike.

The Syrian Americans of Kentuckian held a rally this afternoon in the Highlands to urge support for military action.

Dozens gathered at the corner of Bardstown Road and Eastern Parkway, holding signs that read "Bashar the butcher must be brought to justice" and "military action can save children in Syria."

Organizers say they do not want the U.S. to start a war, but to end the civil war in Syria.

They say Bashar-Al Asaad must be removed from power.

The Senate will debate a resolution on a military strike beginning Monday.
