LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Governors from across the south have convened in Louisville this weekend for the annual meeting of the Southern Governor's Association.
The gathering will focus on ways to beef up manufacturing and job creation in the south
Governor Steve Beshear encouraged the governors to drink bourbon while in town to help support Kentucky's $2 billion industry.
After the market crash in 2008, there was a growing fear that manufacturing jobs in the U-S would never recover.
But Beshear points to the recent success and re-commitment at GE's Appliance Park as a good example of how government's and industry can work together.
Today's speakers included Dr. Chip Blankenship the president and CEO of GE Appliance.
The governor's association's meeting concludes on Monday.
