Officials: Urgent care center fire "suspicious"

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More than 20 firefighters battled an early morning fire Saturday at an urgent care center in east Louisville.

Worthington Fire Chief Kevin Groody says crews responded to the Baptist Urgent Care on Westport Green Place around 4 a.m. Saturday.

Groody says the back of the building has extensive smoke and fire damage, and appears to have started in the rear foyer.

Crews from Worthington, Lyndon, Anchorage and Middletown Fire Departments all responded to the scene.

The cause is still under investigation, but Groody says it was suspicious and is being investigated by Louisville Metro Arson.

The urgent care center was closed at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.  The damage will force the building to be closed for awhile due to the damage.
