LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Students in eight Jefferson County high schools will be able to use cell phones in class later this school year.
The JCPS board approved waivers for those schools tonight.
One board member said students might use their phones to look up words in an online dictionary or otherwise research a project.
The board approval requires schools to make sure every student has access to a smart phone or computer.
Parents must also give permission for their children to use their phones in class.
