LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The last section of the Milton-Madison Bridge is about to come crashing down, as the final 600-foot section is set to be demolished Thursday, Sept. 19.
It's on the side closest to Milton, Ky., so those in the area are urged to use caution.
Like the other three pieces, the remaining span will be retrieved from the river, dismantled, and sold for scrap.
Once the old truss is completely removed, the original piers will be widened to accommodate the new 40-foot-wide bridge which is currently on temporary piers. The final step will happen later this year when the new bridge will be slid into place.
