AUDUBON PARK, Ky. (WDRB) -- New council members in the City of Audubon park say they want a long standing council member gone. Council member Vince Suborn read a proposal saying that Al Huber engaged in misconduct.
"This conduct reflects poorly on the city of Audubon park and is therefore is misconduct," Osborn said at the meeting which lasted a few hours.
Late Monday night, the council voted 5 to 1 to pass a resolution to remove Council member Al Huber. Council members asked that Huber resign from his position, but he shook his head when that request was made during the motion. They say Huber had vulgar words and gestures for a resident at a public meeting a few weeks ago.
They also say Huber made accusations to suggest another council member should be disbarred without any evidence to back that claim up. That accused council member says problems with the older members have carried over and they want a clean start after a new budget was passed weeks ago.
"Now we have recently addressed in a budget that they were charging sanitation services, misuse of road problems, and we actually passed a budget. Now we are getting to the point of holding people accountable for their actions," said Council member Cary Campbell.
With the exception of the mayor and Councilman Al Huber, the majority of the council has largely been in office just a few months. They'll hold a removal hearing in the next couple of weeks.
