KSP: Two troopers terminated as result of investigation

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police are releasing the names of two troopers allegedly involved in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old girl.

Kentucky State Police confirm KSP troopers Jerry Clanton and Stratford Young, have been terminated as a result of the investigation.

"They were terminated on September 13th, 2013. We obviously performed an internal administrative proceedings, and through our investigation, we have found that termination was a viable option," says Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard with Kentucky State Police.

Sgt. Rick Saint-Blancard with KSP Headquarters in Frankfort says Trooper Clanton and Trooper Young have been with KSP since 2010.

"I can tell you both units have performed well. They've gotten awards," says Sgt. Saint-Blancard.

He wouldn't comment further on the investigation due to a pending criminal appeals process, and administrative review process internally.

The Kentucky Attorney General's Office is in the process of naming a special prosecutor in the case.

A father tells WDRB News his 15-year-old daughter remains in treatment, saying she's the victim of an inappropriate relationship with a Breckinridge County Sheriff's Deputy, two Kentucky State Police troopers from Post 4 and a Brandenburg Police Officer.

Breckinridge County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Woosley has recently resigned, but his department will not say why.

A Brandenburg Police Officer is also on paid administrative leave.

The Kentucky Attorney General's Office is in the process of naming a special prosecutor in the case.

Sgt. Saint-Blancard says KSP does hold their troopers accountable, and wants to maintain an image of professionalism and integrity.

He's hoping the accusations and investigation don't reflect badly on the agency and other troopers.

"We'll just have to make up that perception and move forward and our professionalism will and continue to prevail as time moves forward," says Sgt. Saint-Blancard.
