LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A truck driver is dead after a semi truck ran off the road and overturned on the Gene Snyder Freeway between Billtown Road and Taylorsville Road Friday morning, according to police.

A witness called police after seeing it happen. When officers arrived, they say they found the driver down in the woods, overturned.

The coroner identified the driver as 29-year-old Anthony Sands, of Terre Haute, Ind. An autopsy Friday revealed no definitive cause of death.

"It does appear that the semi left the roadway, hit a guardrail and then went down into the woods, overturning into the forest -- the brush there," said LMPD spokeswoman Carey Klain. "There is no indication that the driver tried to stop or slow down. That is why it is believed at this point that it is some type of medical emergency or something else going on with the driver at the time."

You could not see the crash from the interstate. No other cars were involved. The name of the driver has not been released. Police say the truck was carrying lumber and was on its way to Wisconsin.
