JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Customers at a Krispy Kreme had to run for their lives as a car came crashing through the store. It happened at about 9:30 Monday morning at the store in Jeffersontown.
A customer tells WDRB News he saw a woman pull up to the store and everything seemed to be fine. But he says he had just gotten up from his seat, right as the car came through the front of the store and went out the side.
Bob Cross said, "And then all of a sudden she shot through the window, we heard the crashing, and we got out of the way a little bit and my partner was buried in glass and the door kind of coming down on him. Fortunately all he wound up with were a couple little scrapes and cuts."
Cross is a former police officer who says he has investigated similar accidents.
John Heffley, who was slightly injured in the crash, said, "As we got up and started coming out the door, the next I saw coming out of the corner of my eye was this truck. It looked like it was going to stop, but then it come plowing right through the door and the last thing I remember is, the door was on top of me and we were getting out of there as fast as we could and ducking."
Heffley, who's making light of the accident, says he won't be sitting next to a window anytime soon. He also plans to buy a lottery ticket.
No word on what caused the driver to crash through the store.
