October is Fire Safety and Prevention month

October is Fire Safety and Prevention month. Captain Sal Melendez and the Home Depot guys stopped by to share some tips to keep you and your family safe.

Meledez says you should switch to 10 year lithium battery-powered smoke detectors. The batteries cannot be removed and the smoke detector last ten years. He also says fire detectors should outside sleeping areas like a hallway. Scott Krueger says smoke detectors can cost as little as $10.

Captain Melendez even showed our anchors how to properly use a fire extinguisher.
