Papalino's, the Highlands pizzeria, plans to open an eastern Jefferson County location in November, operating partner and chef Allan Rosenberg said Wednesday.
The new Papalino's will be at 3598 Springhurst Boulevard, according to a legal ad for a liquor license application.
"We have a very large East End following, so it just made sense for us to go to the East End next," Rosenberg said.
The Springhurst location, which will be near the Tumbleweed restaurant, will have outdoor seating and be more family-friendly, with an expanded menu, he said.
In addition to pizza and calzones, the Springhurst restaurant will have appetizers, more salad selections and sandwiches such as panninis, he said.
With capacity for about 115, the new restaurant will have many more tables than the Highlands location, he said. Customers will order at the counter, like at the Highlands location, but will be waited on by servers once they are seated.
Papalinos Springhurst LLC ran a legal notice in Wednesday's Courier-Journal that it intends to apply for an alcoholic beverage license. It will have a "very large craft beer" selection as well as wine and liquor, Rosenberg said.
