$1 million Powerball ticket expires

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Time's up! An unclaimed $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Jeffersonville, Ind., in April expired at 5 p.m. Monday, the Hoosier Lottery said.

The ticket was sold at a Circle K on Hamburg Pike.  The winning numbers were 1-36-40-52-53, and the Powerball number was 20; the ticket was sold on April 10.

"It is rare, but not unheard of, that a prize of such magnitude goes unclaimed.  Unclaimed prizes are absorbed back into the lottery to reduce future prize expenses, and that increases the amount of money that goes back to the state." a lottery news release said.

A $5 million Hoosier Lotto jackpot went unclaimed in March 2004. In September 2002 someone missed out on a $50 million Powerball jackpot won in Indiana.

The Jeffersonville Circle K will still receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
