LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police issued an Amber Alert for a child from Shepherdsville, Ky. about 7 p.m. Tuesday.  The alert said the child may be in danger and in the company of her non-custodial parent.

The alert seeks information on the whereabouts of Jaylynn Maxey, 2.  Police said she was taken by her non-custodial father, Joshua Yeager, age 24.  Yeager was believed to be in a maroon, 2000 Ford Taurus with a black or grey, primer-colored hood.  The car has a New Jersey license plate of VHM 20Z.

Louisville Metro Police say they recovered that car at the Circle K convenience store near Lee and Arthur Streets about 9 p.m. Tuesday.  However, officers did not say if they saw any sign of Jaylynn or Yeager.

Police believe Yeager and the child may still be in Louisville, perhaps in the University of Louisville vicinity, or headed toward Indiana, where Yeager may have family.

Anyone with information is asked to call Louisville Metro Police at 502-574-LMPD or call 911.

The Facebook page that appears to belong to the child's mother and shows the child's pictures has a plea posted Tuesday evening:  "Please bring my baby back to me."  WDRB News could not reach the mother for comment; she did not respond to a Facebook request.

The child, Jaylynn Maxey, is described as a black female, age 2, with brown hair and brown eyes.  She's 3 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 37 pounds.  She was last seen wearing a black and pink tank top with a swirled design, white sandals and a pull-up.  She could also be wearing a white and yellow polka-dot top with white pants that have ruffles.

Joshua Yeager, the non-custodial parent, is described as a white male, 24 years old, with blue eyes and brown hair.  He is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 185 pounds.  He has a full-sleeve tattoo on his right arm and a Chinese symbol tattoo on the left side his neck.  Yeager was last seen wearing a green t-shirt with a logo over his breast and green, plaid shorts.

The picture of the Taurus with the matching New Jersey license plate comes from viewer Jamie Howard, who says she is the owner of the car.  She told WDRB News the car was stolen weeks ago and reported to Louisville metro police.

Shepherdsville police Sgt. Michael O'Donnell said Yeager is "a person of interest" in connection with the Monday robbery of the Stock Yards Bank on Adam Shepherd Parkway, near North Buckman Street.

Police said the suspect walked into the bank with a gun and demanded a teller give him money.

The suspect took off on foot.
