Drug overdose deaths in Indiana quadruple since 1999
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new report finds that drug overdose deaths in Indiana have quadrupled since 1999. That's one of the biggest jumps in the country.
Most of those deaths were from painkillers and other prescription drugs.
In 2011, more than 700 people in Indiana died from drug overdoses. That's more than a 10 percent increase from the year before.
State leaders are starting a campaign to increase awareness about misuse of painkillers and other drugs.
