LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Orchestra has appointed a new Executive Director. Andrew Kipe comes from the Phoenix Symphony, where he has been general manager since 2011.
During his time in Phoenix, Kipe reduced the orchestra's deficit, with fiscal year 2013 having a budget surplus. He was also credited with rebranding the Phoenix Symphony and building a positive relationship with musicians.
David Hyslop has been the Interim CEO since January 2013. He said, "The Louisville Orchestra is on the path to stability. With Andrew in place, he and the board can focus on fundraising and reestablishing the Orchestra's place as a vital element to a healthy community by increasing audience size, diversity, and demand."
The orchestra has seen a troubled few years, but has overcome filing for bankruptcy and a strike with its musicians.
