LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---An investigation is underway by Kentucky State Police after a Hodgenville man was shot by an officer serving a warrant.

This happened just after 2:00 Sunday morning.

Trooper Jeffrey Gregory with KSP Post 4 in Elizabethtown says that two Hodgenville police officers were trying to serve a warrant at an apartment in the 600 block of South Lincoln Boulevard.

Trooper Gregory says the man got into an altercation with the officers, and they attempted to tase him.

They say the man grabbed a rifle, and an officer shot him multiple times.

It later turned out to be an air rifle.

The man was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Authorities have not released his name at this time.
