"Cyclouvia" event promotes healthy living

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 3-mile section of Bardstown Road closed to traffic on Sunday to allow free roam for bicycles and pedestrians.

Cyclouvia -- which is a twist on a Spanish word meaning "bike path" -- is a city-sponsored event to promote healthy living and local business.

The second annual event closed off Bardstown from Broadway Avenue to the Douglass Loop for several hours.

Participants could ride bikes, walk, and some even took the opportunity to break a few moves in the street.

Organizers say they hope to start more Cyclouvia events on Frankfort Avenue and Broadway.
