LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A judge has entered not guilty pleas for each of eight people charged with involvement in an organized crime ring in Oldham County.
Last week, police arrested eight suspects as part of an investigation into drug trafficking. Four suspects are charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The suspects range in age from 18 to 22 years old.
Police say all of the suspects were part of a gang called the "Southside Crips" with possible ties to Louisville and Shelbyville. They were allegedly trying to recruit other people into the gang.
The investigation started after suspicions of drug activity inside a home on West Madison Street in LaGrange about three weeks ago.
One of the suspects, 19-year-old Roger Wilson, was charged last year in the drug related death of teen Summer Williams. The coroner ruled she died from an overdose of the painkiller Opana. Three other people were also charged in Williams' death.
For this case, police say they're still making sure they have all the people involved in the crime ring.
