FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Investigators say it appears an inside job could be responsible for missing bourbon at a Kentucky distillery.
Franklin Co. Sheriff Pat Melton confirms $26,000 worth of bourbon was stolen from the Buffalo Trace Distillery.
Deputies responded to the theft on Tuesday, when supervisors reported 55 cases of bourbon were missing from the distillery.
Melton says the missing cases contained 195 bottles of 20-year-old Pappy Van Winkle, valued at $130 each, and nine bottles of 13-year-old rye reserve, valued at $25 each.
According to investigators, at least 50 employees have access to the area. Police say it appears the theft was done internally, but they have no suspects at this time.
