Council President joins Brightside volunteers to spruce up busy road

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several volunteers were joined by Louisville Metro Council President Jim King (D-10) as they worked to beautify a busy area of Bardstown Road and the Watterson Expressway Friday.

King is partnering with Brightside to create a new Brightsite in his district.

On Friday morning, King joined volunteers from the Bashford Manor Neighborhood Association and area businesses to plant knockout roses, Shasta daisies, cone flowers, yarrow, iris and daisies and well as various annuals on the southwest side of the off ramp of the Watterson Expressway at Bardstown Road.

King says that similar projects in the past "have changed what would otherwise be a view of blacktop and concrete cityscape."
