Hung jury in Hardin County infant death trial

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) -- The Hardin County murder trial of a father charged in the death of his 1-month-old son has ended with a hung jury.

The News-Enterprise reports that a jury deliberated for more than 10 hours but failed to come up with a verdict on a murder charge against Jarrod Davis of Radcliff.

Davis was charged in the death of his infant son, Ja'Vion Davis, in January.

An indictment said Davis "wantonly engaged in conduct that created a grave risk of death" to the child.

A medical examiner found blunt force trauma to the baby's head and several other injuries.

Davis said he was burping his son when he reached for a television remote control while holding the baby. Davis said Ja'Vion jerked, causing him to drop the infant.
