Retailers hope gov't shutdown won't affect holiday shopping

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Some economists worry that consumer confidence has been hurt by the now ended government shutdown.

But retailers hope that the short term uncertainty won't harm the upcoming holiday shopping season.

Today, shoppers were out in great numbers in Louisville.

But will they continue to spend between now and Christmas, which is 67 days away?

Local retailers hope the shutdown didn't have a lasting impact.

Retailers cannot afford more uncertainty since the shopping season between Thanksgiving and Christmas is six days shorter than a year ago.
