Jeffersontown streetscape project meant to bring more economic development

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new streetscape project in Jeffersontown is expected to help bring more economic development.  The $3 million project is along Taylorsville Road in the city's historic Gaslight Square District.

Much of the look of the project is a tribute to the city's namesake, Thomas Jefferson.  J-Town Mayor Bill Dieruf says it's part of an effort to make sure the city is looking toward the future:  "As the saying goes, build it and they shall come. We are building this and asking the businesses to stay, we're asking businesses to come, we're asking for customers to come."

The streetscape project has been in the works for the past seven years.
