Breast Cancer Survivor
Breast cancer -- two words that many of us know all too well. Whether you've been personally touched by this disease or know someone who has, nearly everyone in our community has a personal connection to the cause.
For me, those two words changed my life when they touched a dear friend of mine, and just a year later I was diagnosed as well. Through my experience I realized I could sit back or take action, and I decided to do everything in my power to help find a cure for future generations.
That's why I decided to form a team and raise funds for the American Cancer Society "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk. The walk will take place this Sunday, October 27 at Waterfront Park with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the walk starting at 1 p.m. This 5K walk unites our community to celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate people about reducing breast cancer risk and raise funds to end the disease.
I know I am making a difference in this fight but I also know I can't do it alone. It takes us all and we need you. Join me and my fellow survivors and supporters this Sunday as we walk to create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays. I'll see you at the starting line!
I'm Valerie Hall, and that's my Point of View.
