Murdered officer's mother-in-law confronts Sen. Rand Paul

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The family of a murdered Bardstown Police officer turns to a U.S. Senator for help.

Jason Ellis's mother-in-law came to an event featuring Kentucky Senator Rand Paul to ask for help: "What are your plans, if any, to help us in getting more attention to this tragedy? He left two small children, one special needs, hardly any life insurance, would not be able to make it today."

Officer Ellis was ambushed and killed in May while on his way home from work.  Police do not have any suspects in the case.

The senator praised Bardstown and the community for helping the Ellis family, and told Ellis's mother-in-law that he would do anything he can, and urged her to talk to his office about specifics.

Anyone with information on the murder of Jason Ellis is asked to call Kentucky State Police.
