LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDRB) - Three-time Kentucky Derby winner Calvin Borel was in stable condition Wednesday night after he was injured at Keeneland.
Borel was aboard Sonic Dancer in the sixth race when he was thrown from the horse.
Borel's wife Lisa says he suffered a broken fibula but did not suffer a concussion as previously believed. She also says there was no soft tissue damage.
Sonic Dancer, the horse he was on, suffered a fatal leg injury.
The race was called a no-contest.
