LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- They're not just splitting hairs -- a group that made a stop in Louisville says discrimination against mustaches and beards exists in the workplace.
Members of the American Mustache Institute gathered in front of the Kentucky Center Wednesday, interviewing men with facial hair. The group is conducting an online study to get people's opinions about facial hair.
Members of the group also want to find out just how widespread the discrimination is.
"We have actually mediated on behalf of restaurant employees, casino employees, within schools on behalf of students regarding their ability and their civil liberty to wear facial hair to their comfort level," said Dr. Aaron Perlut with the American Mustache Institute.
Perlut says, however, he does understand that people need to do some extra grooming if they work in certain fields, like food service or the healthcare industry.
