Louisville, KY (WDRB) – Louisville forward Chane Behanan's indefinite suspension may be coming to a speedy conclusion.
At a book signing in Owensboro Thursday, head basketball coach Rick Pitino told Messenger-Inquirer reporter Cole Claybourn: "The reason he's suspended and not off the team: he told the truth. I said OK. There's going to be a penalty and a price to pay, but he told the truth. We'll get through this. Just do the right things and he'll be back on the team in a short period of time."
Behanan was suspended indefinitely from the team last week when Pitino said the junior violated an undisclosed university policy. Pitino said after Saturday's Red-White scrimmage that Behanan had opportunities to reinstate himself but failed to do so.
At a chance meeting in a local Starbucks, Behanan told WDRB's Rick Bozich and Eric Crawford that he was "positive" he would work his way back onto the team.
Last week, Pitino guaranteed that Behanan would not play in November and said it was doubtful that he could return in December.
Louisville hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College Tuesday for an exhibition game at the KFC Yum! Center.
