LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- UPS needs 55,000 workers to get those holiday packages delivered.
The shipping giant expects peak season daily volume to go up 8 percent this year. The peak day is expected to be December 16th when UPS anticipates picking up more than 34 million packages around the world.
A day later will be the peak delivery day, at more than 29 million packages. Adding to it -- there are just 26 shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
That's six fewer than last year and the most compressed holiday shopping season since 2002.
