LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---Another development in the recent Pappy Van Winkle bourbon thefts.

On Wednesday, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office released video of a "person of interest" in the case.

A man was seen outside the Packages and More Liquor store in Elizabethtown, wearing a purple Bardstown High School sweatshirt and driving a green Ford F-150.

The owner of the liquor store told WDRB that the man wanted to sell a large amount of Pappy Van Winkle.

This was days after more than $26,000 worth of the rare bourbon was stolen from Buffalo Trace Distillery.

According to the Kentucky Standard, Attorney Doug Hubbard from Bardstown says that Bardstown High School Principal Chris Pickett is the person in the video that authorities released.

Hubbard told the Kentucky Standard that Pickett retained his services on Friday, and that he walked in the liquor store "looking to buy a bottle of whiskey".

He told the newspaper that Pickett was out of this all week in Hilton Head, South Carolina and learned by  phone he was the "person of interest" in this case.

WDRB spoke to Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton on Sunday. He says there have been no arrests in this case, and won't comment whether Pickett was the "person of interest" seen in the video.

He says they are investigating all leads in this case, and hope to soon release more information in the case.

WDRB tried to reach both Doug Hubbard and Chris Pickett. Calls have not yet been returned.
