National FFA officer talks about the importance of agriculture

Posted: Updated:

The 2013 National FFA Convention & Expo will be in Louisville from Oct 30-Nov 2. More than 56,000 students from around the country will be in the city. This is the largest convention Louisville has ever hosted. FFA was here from 1999-2005 and the convention has grown substantially since then. Louisville will host the convention through 2015.

Wiley Bailey is the National FFA Southern Region Vice President. The Auburn University junior is majoring in agricultural Communications. This is his last week being a National FFA officer as he will retire during convention and a new National FFA Officer team will be elected. During his time as an officer, he has traveled the country and the world representing FFA. He is from Sand Rock, Alabama. He also loves to play the banjo.

FFA members will be doing a lot this week, including witnessing an inspiring message from keynote speaker Rick Pitino, performing community service throughout the week and attending a Dierks Bentley concert at the Yum! Center. Most of the action will happen out at the Kentucky Exposition Center but you will see blue jackets just about everywhere you turn through Saturday.
