LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Around a hundred west Louisville home and business owners have the chance to get free repairs.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer announced the Shawnee neighborhood will receive a facelift over the next five years through the "Shine On Shawnee" project.
Fischer says a $2 million grant will help stimulate the economy, increase property values, and strengthen the historic community: "When you talk to city planners today, they are trying to create streets like this. They are trying to create streets where people can see each other. Talk, front porch to front porch. Walk to a neighborhood store, grocery store pharmacy, whatever, where there is community."
