Curious George, the Big Hungry Bear and Green Eggs and Ham are among the inspirations for "Bookworms," an exhibit at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio.

Flame Run will celebrate National Family Literacy Day on November 1st, with a kid- focused reception.

Kids of all ages can make ornaments and bookmarks, attend story time, and enjoy refreshments from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The show, co-sponsored by the National Center for Family Literacy and Wonderopolis.org, includes work by 15 glass artists whose influences include "Where the Red Fern Grows," "Alice in Wonderland" and other children's favorites.

The show will include borosilicate glass, cast glass, blown glass and mixed media.

Flame Run is donating $4 of every ornament blown to the National Center for Family Literacy in Louisville. Ornament-making appointments ($40) are available all day from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
