Wounded Warrior Project honors U.S. Military

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Civilians and soldiers gathered to show appreciation for those who serve our country on Saturday.

The Wounded Warriors Project honored U.S. Military men and women at the event.

Their goal for the event was to fundraise and spread awareness-- but most importantly connect with those showing support.

"What we went about doing was making connections. Connections between civilians, connections between wounded warriors and today's wounded warriors and from past. And when we make those connections, we're gonna get the sensitivity, we're gonna get the awareness," said Titan Marine owner, Michael Greenwell.

A special honoree was a 97-year-old World War two veteran, LC Power.

Power is a three time Purple Heart and a Bronze Star recipient for his time served during the war.

80 troops from Fort Knox were also in attendance tonight.

The event was complete with food, music and a silent auction.
