PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) -- A developing story in New Jersey where police say the man who allegedly fired a gun at a mall is dead.

The shooter's body was found in the back area of the Westfield Garden State Plaza mall with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Newark, New Jersey Star Ledger identifies the gunman as 20 year old restaurant worker Richard Shoop.

The shots were fired at the mall in Paramus just before closing at 9:30 last night.  No one was injured.

But witnesses say they saw a man wearing body armor and a helmet.  People in the building at the time of the shooting spent the night on lockdown.

Frightened customers took to twitter to say they were being escorted out by armed state troopers.
